Mission Statement

To serve as the natural home and forum practitioners of traditional medicine in Nigeria.

The Association (NANTMP) shall be umbrella body of ALL the Traditional Medicine Nigeria.

To represent the interest of the traditional medicine practitioners and facilitate the integration and/or co-recognition of traditional medicine practitioners in the Nigerian formal health care delivery system.

To act on behalf of, champion and defend the interest of the profession in Nigeria at all levels of government and public sectors.

Vision Statement

Conscious of the need to protect Traditional Medicine practice in Nigeria, acknowledging the widespread of use of Traditional medicine and the need to integrate the formal health care delivery system as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Aware of the need to regularly study and under research into the Traditional Medicine sources and to protect the intellectual property rights of traditional knowledge and practice and in view of the vast endowment of natural resources and their economic potential in the country.

Justifying the need to have an umbrella body for the coordination of ALL Traditional Medicine Association and traditional medicine practices in Nigeria, at the behest of the Federal Ministry of Health.

Realizing the need to regulate and scrutinize Traditional Medicine for the benefit of both practitioners and consumers.

Our Aims and Objectives

To serve as the natural home and forum practitioners of traditional medicine in Nigeria.

The Association (NANTMP) shall be umbrella body of ALL the Traditional Medicine Nigeria.

To represent the interest of the traditional medicine practitioners and facilitate the integration and/or co-recognition of traditional medicine practitioners in the Nigerian formal health care delivery system.

To act on behalf of, champion and defend the interest of the profession in Nigeria at all levels of government and public sectors.

To ensure that all communications, proposal and request by Traditional Medicine practitioners; for any form of assistance at the National, State and Local Government Levels, be routed through Executive Committee of NANTMP.

To make contact and enhance the implementation of plans and programs of Traditional Medicine Council at the National level as well as Traditional Medicine Boards, at the State and Local Government levels.

To facilitate the enforcement of the code of conduct and ethics of the practice of traditional medicine in Nigeria.

To harness the potential of traditional medicine and engage in activities for continuing education and conduct of research in all aspects of traditional medicine.

To promote the establishment of private and public medicinal plant cultivation.

To protect the intellectual property rights of traditional knowledge and practice.

To promote the welfare of Traditional Medicine practitioners through participation in local and international activities.

To do everything that is necessary for the promotion and development of traditional medicine.
